There is a new feature in PeopleTools 8.56 that allows business owners to make changes to a field or page within PeopleSoft without customization.
Using this new functionality, advises Amy Prevosto, Highstreet Principal Consultant, a field label can be renamed, hidden and even a default value can be added. In addition, you can remove access to update a field or remove an entire page.
For example, in PeopleSoft HCM many customers don’t use the Job Labor page found under Job Data if tracking Union or Bargaining Unit information isn’t required. If your organization doesn’t need to access the Job Labor page, then the Page and Field Configurator can be used to remove that item from the component.
Update the Component JOB_DATA and hide the page titled “JOB_LABOR” and then your end-users won’t need to navigate past that page any longer when accessing Job Data.
It’s as easy as selecting the option on whether the page is visible or not without customizing the system!
