As the 2024 Summer Internship Program kicked off, Highstreet hosts an event for its summer interns. The Highstreet team and their interns met at Dave & Buster’s for some delicious food and a friendly competition. With the many of Highstreet’s college interns being local to Virginia, HR Intern Makayla and HR Generalist Ashley coordinated an afternoon filled with fun and laughter. This gave the interns a chance to get to know each other, their managers, and the Highstreet senior leadership team. This event was a way for everyone to connect, build relationships, and learn more about each other outside of the office.
Delicious Eats
As all interns and employees arrived, the Dave & Buster’s adventure began with some delicious food to break the ice! With a full menu and empty stomachs, lunch started at 12:30, allowing the team to fuel up for the competition ahead. With an hour lunch planned before the games, the local interns and employees took the opportunity to get to know each other and build connections.
Scavenger Hunt
After lunch ended, the group split into three teams to get the scavenger hunt started. Team Red included Kim, Savannah, and David; Team Orange consisted of Chris, Ashely, and McKenna; and Team Blue included Aidan, Dylan, and Jennifer.
Once teams were sorted, they competed in the ultimate scavenger hunt. After the timer started, the teams were off, completing a set of challenges, playing games, and solving clues throughout the building to gain points. When the timer ran out, the referee recorded each team’s points based on how many challenges they completed correctly. The team with the highest score wins!
After an intense 30 minutes, all three teams were called to the front. Which team took home the gold? Drumroll, please… Team Red won! Kim, Savannah, and David won because of their teamwork focused strategy. By splitting up to make the most of their time and regrouping when they were stuck, team Red came out on top. Team Blue came in second place, and Team Orange came in third.
