2024’s first quarter has come to a close, and to celebrate, the Highstreet team got together for an Virtual Mixology Employee Engagement. These quarterly virtual activities are a way to show appreciation for Highstreet’s employees and their hard work. These events foster connections, boost morale with a fun break, and even build teamwork through online interaction.
This quarter’s Virtual Mixology Employee Engagement Event was a fun and interactive way to celebrate our team’s hard work. Instructed by Therese Ludwig with Sweet Moments Company, she guided the Highstreet team through four different types of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and had two different sessions.
First, Watermelon Serrano Margarita
The first drink kit came with a margarita mix, fresh watermelon, watermelon juice, tajin, serrano peppers, and lime. To start, the Highstreet team got to practice making a tajin rim with their margarita glass. This was done by taking a lime around the cup and then dipping it on a plate with tajin. After, the Highstreet team got to practice their muddling and shaking to make the margarita.
During the drink tasting the first night the Highstreet team got to watch a pepper-eating contest between Henry Tran and Adrienne McCraw. They both took hefty bites of the serrano pepper and neither of them gave up; both ate them as if they were chips. While others found the little slices of serrano to be too hot. Overall, this was everyone’s top or second favorite drink.
Second, Sweet & Spicy Arizona Mule
The second drink kit came with lime, ginger beer, rosemary, jalapeno simple syrup, and a candied jalapeno. The jalapeno simple syrup was unexpected but delicious! It made the mule a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. This drink tasted like a typical mule with a little bit of a kick. This was Kevin Brophy’s and Athena Tran’s favorite drink.
Third, Pomegranate Cosmopolitan
The third drink kit came with cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, an orange, lime, a candied orange, and sugar. This drink had a sugar rim and was garnished with a candied orange. For our spicy lovers, this drink was a little too sweet for them, but for everyone else this drink was perfect. While the people with a sweet tooth went a little heavy-handed on the simple syrup to make it sweeter than it normally is. Overall, this was a great sweet drink.
Fourth, Emerald Refresher
Last but certainly not least, the Emerald Refresher. This drink came with cucumber juice, elderflower syrup, basil simple syrup, mint, lime, cucumber, and club soda. The Highstreet team got to practice their cutting skills by making thinly sliced cucumbers to garnish the cup. This drink was the perfect way to end the Employee Engagement Activity. It was the perfect refresher if you were sitting at a beach or a pool.
Looking Forward
Cheers to a fun and refreshing virtual mixology class!
