Founded in 1911 with the goal of education teachers, today Eastern Tennessee State University (ETSU) is the fourth largest university in the state of Tennessee and hosts one of the top Colleges of Medicine in the country. ETSU also boasts a College of Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health, and a new College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences. Not exclusive to the sciences, ETSU also has unique programs in the arts. Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country music programs as well as the countryโs only masterโs degree in Storytelling make ETSU a fascinatingly well-rounded institution. ETSU hosts 14,500 students[1] and 800 staff members.[2]

Highstreet is dedicated to the success of the State of Tennessee. By providing a repeatable successful outcome to her K-12 Schools, Businesses, Higher Education Institutions, Local Governments, Highstreet is minimizing the risk to other Oracle implementations across the state. Our track record of not only success, but innovation and dedicated partnership makes Highstreet excited to be a part of Tennesseeโs future.
Choosing Oracleโs Full Suite
Skyrocketing business costs, operational risks, inefficiency, unhelpful data, and lack luster capabilities have driven ETSU to replace their collection of existing systems. Ellucian (formerly Banner), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and other third-party systems are not providing for ETSUโs growth. Theyโre non-integrated system presents challenges for ETSUโs finance office. Due to the lack of relevant and timely insights, the Finance team is unable to respond to both opportunities and risks appropriately. There is little standardization which results in inefficiency in many forms, including manual, paper forms. Poor data integrity is another pervasive issue throughout ETSUโs current system.
By partnering with Oracle and Highstreet, ETSU is committed to fixing these issues. As a result of this implementation, ETSU is re-imagining its business. They will be simplifying business processes, adding intuitive functionality and tools, experiencing a high level of efficiency, all with comprehensive integration. All this boils down to better data, money saved, time optimized, and staff empowered.
When implementing a full suite experience, projects are broken into chunks phases. ETSU has a January, 2024 projected go-live date for HCM and a September, 2023 projected go-live date for ERP.
Looking Forward
Highstreet is excited to be working with ETSU to digitally transform their institution. Both ETSU employees and students deserve the best experience and Highstreet is ready to be a part of that transition. In an effort to ensure other LGIs are prepared for their upcoming transformations, Highstreet is partnering with Oracle to host Knowledge Sharing Sessions. These sessions will allow LGIs to ask questions, take advantage of Highstreetโs experience in Higher Education transformations, and prepare to take their institutions to the next level of digital service.
This series of Collective Learning Sessions are hosted by Highstreet in conjunction with Oracle to help LGIs develop the best possible route forward for their staff, students, and state. An unprecedented project, these Collective Learning Sessions are must attend events. Be sure to let us know you would like to attend here.
